Our goal is to provide the right message and tools so that each member can believe and affirm their walk with Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. This is not as easy as it sounds once you go off to college- the amount of freedom and lack of supervision combined with new surroundings can open up a whole new world for some students. This is another reason why 8 out 10 students do not come back to church post college. We all need God and this does not ever change.
Our ministry is based on 2 principles
Honesty
- We encourage people to be open and honest. We can only change if we are free to be ourselves. No pretending. Being vulnerable is hard, but its the only way we all grow and change.
Accountability
- As a family, we all need to be accountable to each other as well as God. We can not become a better Christian alone. Its much easier when we can keep each other accountable.
The majority of Pilgrim College Ministry members attend school away from home and thus we promote getting plugged into a church in school and also being part of campus ministries. During the semester, visits are made to Rutgers and greater Boston area. We have also established a relationship with some of the churches in the school areas and will continue to support them as our students attend during school semester.
Pilgrim College Ministry is in full gear during the vacation periods. Each year, we have two scheduled retreats: 1) Memorial Day weekend - Welcoming new incoming freshmens to College Ministry and 2) Last weekend of each year. Each retreats are packed with both spiritual and fellowship activties. In addtion to the retreats, each summer we go on a vision/ mission trip. Last 2 years, group of 20+ members have participated in Habitat for Humanity projects and this year we are going to Chunchon, Korea to lead english based VBS prgrams for over 200 students. Although one may think that we are going to serve others, we know that we will learn so much while we serve. Our goal is to get to know Jesus and His amazing steadfast love and be able to pass it along. How can we love like Jesus if we have never felt his love?
If you feel like you are missing something in your life, we like to invite you to come and join the pilgrim College Ministry family and start a new relationship with Jesus Christ.
